YOUR SENIOR SESSION
Senior photos don't have to mean standing in a field for two hours, smiling at a camera until your face hurts. Unless that's your thing. Then we're absolutely doing that. My goal is to make your session feel like you.
Maybe that's beachy and laid-back. Maybe it's downtown and a little edgy. Maybe it's your favorite pair of jeans, your car, your guitar, your dog, your best friend, or a place that actually means something to you.
You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to be a model. And you definitely don't need to show up knowing exactly what you want. That's my job.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
You've booked your session! 🎉 Here's the basic game plan:
THE QUESTIONNAIRE
You'll fill out my Senior Session Questionnaire so I can get to know you a little before we meet. Your answers help me plan locations, outfits, ideas, and all the little details that can make your session feel personal.
2. THE FUN STUFF
We'll figure out your session date, location(s), timing, and anything special you'd like to include. If you have an idea that sounds a little weird, random, sentimental, or completely outside the box? Tell me. Those are usually my favorite ideas.
3. SESSION DAY
Show up, bring your outfits and anything you want to include, and let me do the rest. I'll guide you through posing and movement the entire time. You are not expected to magically know what to do with your hands, I’ll tell you where to put them!
4. I WORK MY MAGIC
After your session, I'll carefully go through your images and hand-edit the best ones so they look like you, just on a really good day. No orange skin. No plastic faces. No turning you into someone you don't recognize.
5. YOUR GALLERY
Once your images are ready, you'll receive your private online gallery with all the information you need to view and choose your images.
WHAT TO WEAR
The short version? Wear things that feel like you.
BRING A FEW OPTIONS
I usually recommend 2–3 outfits with a little variety.
Think:
Something that feels like your everyday style
Your favorite jeans, sneakers, boots, jacket, band tee, whatever you actually wear.
Something a little more dressed up
A dress, skirt, button-down, nice pants, blazer, jumpsuit—or whatever “dressed up” means to you.
Something that's just fun
This is your chance to bring in a little more personality. Something bold, weird, vintage, sporty, edgy, colorful…you get the idea.
You don't have to bring three completely different outfits. Sometimes changing a jacket, shoes, or adding a layer is enough to create a whole new look.
WHERE SHOULD WE GO?
Your location doesn't have to be “pretty.” It just needs to feel like you.
We can shoot somewhere beautiful, somewhere interesting, somewhere meaningful or somewhere that simply gives us the vibe you're after.
Beach. Forest. Downtown. Waterfront. Open fields. Your favorite hangout. Somewhere completely unexpected. I'm pretty open to ideas, so don't be afraid to think outside the box.
🌊 BEACH + COAST
Windy hair, bare feet, big skies, dunes, dramatic sunsets, and plenty of room to move.
What to bring: Flowy dresses, soft fabrics, layers that move in the wind, and shoes you don't mind taking off. Bare feet are absolutely encouraged. A pair of flip flops or easy slip-on shoes is also a good idea for walking between locations. The coast can be soft and dreamy, moody and dramatic, or completely wild depending on the day.
🌲 FOREST + NATURE
Tall trees, filtered light, moss, trails, ferns, and a little bit of adventure.
What to bring: Lighter colors like white, cream, soft neutrals, and light denim can look especially beautiful against all that green. Boots or comfortable shoes are a good idea if we're hitting a trail. Bring comfortable walking shoes or boots for getting between spots, we can always switch shoes when it's time to take photos. Forest sessions can feel quiet and earthy or playful and full of movement.
🏙️ DOWNTOWN + URBAN
Buildings, sidewalks, interesting walls, storefronts, architecture, murals, neon, and whatever else we find along the way.
What to bring: This is your chance to lean into your personal style. Bold colors, denim, leather, boots, graphic pieces, vintage finds, or something a little edgy can work really well here.
🌅 WATERFRONT + OPEN SPACES
Rivers, piers, docks, fields, grassy spaces, bridges, and wide-open views.
What to bring: Think about the overall vibe you want. Casual, dressed-up, colorful, classic, or something completely different can all work here. Layers are always a good idea, especially around the coast.
❤️ MAKE IT PERSONAL
Some of my favorite sessions happen in places that mean something to the person I'm photographing. Maybe it's the beach your family goes to every summer. A favorite hiking spot. A basketball court. Your family's property. The place you and your friends always hang out. If you have a location in mind, tell me. We'll figure out how to make it work.
🌧️A LITTLE OREGON WEATHER REALITY CHECK
If it's chilly, bring a coat or jacket to throw on between shots. You don't have to freeze for the photo! We'll keep moving, but there will always be time to bundle up while we're walking between spots or getting ready for the next setup.
ONE LAST THING
You don't have to know exactly what you want before we start. You don't have to be comfortable in front of a camera. You don't have to know how to pose. You just have to show up as yourself. I'll guide you through the rest, from figuring out what to wear and where to go, to what to do with your hands when your brain suddenly forgets how hands work.
The goal isn't to create a bunch of perfect, overly-posed pictures. It's to create photos that make you think, “Yep. That's me.” So bring your outfits, your ideas, your weird little details, your people, your personality and whatever makes this season of your life yours.
I'll bring the camera. Let's make some magic!
A FEW THINGS THAT HELP
Layers are your friend.
Jackets, cardigans, flannels, sweaters, overshirts, etc. give us more options without requiring another complete outfit.
Texture photographs beautifully.
Denim, leather, knits, corduroy, lace, linen, and other interesting fabrics can add dimension to your photos.
Don't be afraid of color.
If you love color, wear it. If you're a black-and-white person, that's great too. Your questionnaire gives me a little insight into your style, so we'll work with what feels right for you.
Make sure you can move.
If you're uncomfortable, it's going to show. Wear things you can sit, walk, move, laugh, and generally be yourself in.
Shoes count.
A lot! We will probably see them. Bring the shoes that actually go with the outfit, not the emergency pair you hate wearing.
DRESS FOR THE LOCATION
Your location can help decide what looks best, too.
Beach session?
Flowy dresses, movement, bare feet, soft fabrics, and outfits that catch the wind can look amazing against the ocean. Think effortless, relaxed, a little dreamy.
Forest session?
Lighter colors can really pop against all that green. White, cream, light denim, soft neutrals, and other lighter tones photograph beautifully among the trees.
Downtown or urban?
This is where you can have a little more fun. Think bold colors, leather, denim, boots, graphic pieces, or something with a little edge.
Not sure?
That's what I'm here for. Send me a few outfit options and I'm happy to help you decide what will work best with your location.
